The Gruesome Ghost Terrorizing J’s Amusement Park

Amusement parks are meant to be places of happiness and fun.

Everything is expertly engineered and constructed to give guests the best time possible.

Of course, they’re also full of heavy machinery and bored employees, and with partying thrill seekers taking a few too many chances.

Updated 9/19/2019 – When things go wrong at an amusement park, they can go very wrong, indeed.

And that can lead to a haunting.

Haunted Amusement Park

At J’s Amusement Park in Guerneville, it seems that this is exactly what has occurred.

About 30 years ago, a couple of park guests got a little wild and crazy on the Scrambler ride, and decided to lie down on the seat and do a little scrambling of their own.

At the height of passion, the woman stretched out and hung her head off the side of the car.

At just that moment, the track design incorporated a particularly close call with a nearby girder.

You can probably imagine what happened next.

At least it was fast.

The poor girl’s head went flying off the ride and into the crowd below.

The rest of her stayed behind, locked in a macabre embrace with her shocked boyfriend.

Theme Park Catastrophe

Confusion.

Screams.

Panic.

An emergency shutdown of the ride, and before long, the wails of ambulances and traumatized children.

The entirety of J’s Amusement Park shut down for the rest of the day.

But the show must go on, and business is business.

The next day, the gates opened again, and children and, yes, thrill seeking couples streamed onto the grounds once more.

The boyfriend slunk off, and hasn’t been heard from again.

One wonders if he was even able to stay in the town of Guerneville, after his fun ended with a splatter of blood and the loss of a life.

Such an experience can literally be life-changing, and it’s entirely possible he picked up and left.

Started over in a new town, with a new job, and never, ever speaking of his past.

That was in the middle of the 1980s.

Today, even after all these years, the ghost of the woman has been seen frantically dashing through the park.

Her clothes are a mess, and her head is… absent.

Is this spirit still a conscious being, unaware of her passing?

Is she hoping to find that “item” she dropped off the side of the ride?

Or is she merely an echo now, full of animal instinct and randomly traversing the park grounds where her mortal form perished?

This particular ghost likes to beat the crowds.

J’s is no longer in operation, but she doesn’t seem to know that.

The best chance of seeing her is on rainy days when the park wouldn’t have been so full of people, or in the early morning before the park would have opened.

A Sad End to a Haunted Legacy

The owners of the park fully embraced the creepy happenings, and ran a popular haunted house attraction each Halloween.

Sadly, legal troubles have put a stop to that, and today J’s Amusement Park is truly abandoned.

Other than, perhaps, her.
