Del Mar Racetrack was opened to the public in 1937.
The track was exclusively built for American Thoroughbreds.
Many popular horses, such as the legendary Seabiscuit, raced at Del Mar.

Del Mar: The Finest Racetrack of the West
Updated 2/10/2020 – By the 1940s, Del Mar became a very popular hangout place for the Hollywood elite.
However, the racetrack was shut down between 1942 and 1944 due to World War II.
The track was used as a training facility for the U.S. Marines.
Post war, the racetrack became a favored recreational spot once more.
Some regular visitors are convinced that when the grandstand was completely remodeled in 1991, the construction woke up an ancient ghost.
Del Mar hosted many big purse races, and continues to do so to this day, despite isolated paranormal incidents.
Giovanni was there with his family last summer when he became convinced that the Del Mar truly was haunted.
Despite the fact that his family had come every year, none of them had ever experienced anything supernatural in origin.
Until that fateful day.
Dead Woman in the Bathroom

“I had to visit the restroom, but there was a line a mile long on the first floor,” Giovanni explained.
“So I went up and checked on the second floor, and then up to the third.
Much to my surprise the third floor men’s restroom was completely empty.
“I went in, and started to do my business when I heard the sound of someone walking into the room.
It wasn’t footsteps, but I heard the creak of the door, and then a stall make noise to the right of me.
I didn’t think a thing of it until I went to wash my hands and realized that all of the stalls had their metal doors wide open,” he gestured.
“I poked my head into each, wondering if perhaps someone was having a medical problem.
But nobody was in any of them.
Frowning, I began to experiment by nudging at one of the stall doors, wondering if a gust of wind could have been responsible,” Giovanni explained.
“Cautiously I left the bathroom, but I didn’t feel alone as I walked along on the fifth floor.
I was almost to the stairs when I heard a deep male voice whisper ‘don’t go.’
Suddenly I was terrified!
“I scrambled around, looking for the hiding man, but again…I didn’t see anybody or anything.
I wish I could say that that was the last thing I experienced,” Giovanni said with a disappointed expression.
“But it was not.
“I didn’t realize that something was off the rest of the day until we returned to our house.
I meandered up the steps and into my room.
That’s when I noticed that I got the same strange feeling as I had when I was in the bathroom at Del Mar,” he whispered, looking down at the floor.
“The entire room was freezing cold, and I began to get this strange sort of anxiety in the pit of my stomach.
I watched in horror as a shadow seemed to appear and then grow right beside me in the middle of the room.
I began to cower as it grew, but I was far too scared to move.
“I shut my eyes and ducked down low when it reached out for me.
I screamed, but the thing disappeared entirely.
I have no doubt in my mind that it was an entity from Del Mar though.”
