Updated 2/9/2020 – What kind of terrifying paranormal experiences happened to you as a child?

“It’s theirs”

David H. wrote us saying…

“Some people say that your ability to sense ghosts or paranormal activity diminishes as you grow older.

As we become adults, we are conditioned not to notice or perceive certain supernatural things.

When I was a child, around 9 or 10 years old, there would always be these taps on my closet door.

After I went to bed for the night, I would occasionally hear these soft poundings that were coming from inside my closet.

They were almost in sequence, creating almost a percussive music. I would walk over to the closet and open it only to find it empty.

Then when I would try and fall asleep the taps would come back.

Over the years I started noticing the taps from the closet less and less until eventually they went away.

I’m 33 now and have an 8 year old son.

He recently told me he’s hearing a tapping noise coming from his closet.

He describes it as “their music“.

When I ask what “their music” means he just says it’s theirs and then stops talking.

I’ve told him it’s nothing and not to worry about it, but inside I’m terrified.

I don’t know what’s going on.

Have any of your other readers experienced something like this?”

They Came From Under the Floor

If you’re ready for more creepiness, here’s what Steph B. told us:

“I’m not entirely sure if I imagined this, or if it was a dream, but the event seems so real to me I can still remember it clearly.

When I was a kid I had trouble sleeping so I would constantly go to my parents’ bed and sleep with them.

One night I got up late and remember feeling really spooked out for no reason.

I wandered into my parents’ room and crawled in their bed when they were sleeping.

After a while of trying to fall asleep, I just stared at the door.

Out of nowhere, these white objects I can only describe as some sort of ghosts started appearing from under the floor.

They would circle the room and then run into the door, which seemed like it was absorbing them.

When I woke up in the morning, the side of the door had these faint white markings on it.

When I asked my parents what they were, they didn’t have an answer.

I’m still fairly certain that I didn’t dream what I saw, that there were ghosts I was somehow able to see when I was younger.”

The Grinning Ghoul

The stuff of nightmares

And last but not least in this entry of scary stories, here’s what Cassie said:

“This happened to me when I was around 8.

My parents had gone to bed for the night and I wanted to watch a movie that was on late.

So I snuck into the living room and turned on the TV super low so they couldn’t hear it.

Around midnight I heard footsteps behind the couch I was sitting on, and thought my parents had busted me.

I quickly turned off the TV and pretended like I was asleep on the couch as the footsteps got closer.

When they stopped right in front of me, I thought it was weird that my parents hadn’t said anything.

I opened my eyes, and standing in front of me was a ghoulish version of me.

My skin was decomposing, and I had this evil grin on.

It was me but it looked like I had been buried and dug up after a month.

I screamed and went for the lights, but I felt her grab my leg.

I screamed again and woke up in a panic in my own bed in my own room.

I looked at the clock and it was the same time I thought it was when I was watching the movie in the living room.

This seemed too real to me to have been a dream; I can still make out what my hellish doppelganger looks like in my mind.”
