If you’re ever in Clearwater, Florida, make sure to check out Crabby Bill’s Seafood.
You’re sure to get a great meal, and if you’re lucky enough (or unlucky enough, depending on how you look at it) you might also get a good scare.
Crabby Bill’s Seafood in Clearwater, you see, is widely reputed to be haunted.
Updated 2/10/2020 – Former employees and patrons alike have experienced very strange phenomena in Crabby Bill’s over the years.
EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), lights going on and off, and items being moved around the location randomly are just a few of the things that have been reported to go on.
At night, it’s said (mostly by former employees, some or all of whom have been around to actually witness such things) that the building sometimes randomly echoes with things banging around and angry voices shouting indistinctly throughout the building.
“I’ve seen what’s causing all of this,” says a former employee, an older man fittingly named Bill who worked there for a short while some years ago.
“The thing about it is that it ain’t no friendly ghost, neither.
“These stupid kids, they think they can go up and just talk to this stuff, like it ain’t gonna hurt ’em none.
“Not true, brother! That’s why I didn’t work there no longer than I did.
“Me and my buddy – this was a guy named Jim, at least for the purposes of my story…
I don’t want to get him in trouble, wherever he is today – anyways, we was doing cleanup work at the restaurant late one night.
“Nothing unusual about that, we was there most nights later than a lot of the other folks what worked there, on account of we did a lot of the more detailed cleaning work.
“Plus we did bathrooms, stuff like that.
You get the idea.
“So Jim and me, we split up, don’t think nothing of it because we do this every night and it saves time, you know, for several reasons.
“One is we split up the work, and one is we don’t talk to each other and waste time.
“So I’m working on cleaning the bathrooms when all of a sudden half the lights in the whole place go out all at once.
“And I felt this real cold chill go up my spine, and I could see something moving through there.
“I tried to holler for Jim, but nothing came out of my mouth.
“That was when the really bad thing happened.
“The door to one of the bathroom stalls suddenly slams open, and there’s this woman there, all huddled up on the floor.
“She looks hurt and stuff, so in my confusion and stupidity the first thing I done was lean in and reach out to touch her.
“That was when she shrieked at me – made a noise I’ll hear in my dreams until Judgment Day, I figure, and her eyes went totally black.
She reached out and scratched me, too.”
He rolls up his sleeve, showing a mark along his forearm which is traced in black and purple.
“Been five years, and that thing ain’t never gone away.
“I got out of there that night, quit the next morning, and moved away.
“I don’t never want to see nothing like that ever again.”
