It’s always a little surprising when a famous actor, actress, or musician claims some experience with the supernatural.

Then again, why should it be?

It’s doubtful that ghosts and other paranormal entities care about our worldly pursuits.

They have their own troubles, and they’re probably far too busy to be star-struck.

Does a 200 year old ghost care about what’s topping the charts?

They may be more open to being touched by the paranormal.

Perhaps the very spark that gives them such creativity also makes them susceptible to influence from things beyond our ken.

Or depending on your perspective, they may be more open to thinking they are.

After all, rock legends and movie stars aren’t always the most stable people.

In any case, people the world over have reported contact with ghosts, spirits, aliens, inexplicable powers, and more.

It doesn’t seem to matter if they’re rich or poor, old or young, or where they live.

#10 – Lauren Lapkus

The adorable comedienne and costar of Orange Is the New Black has some very strong feelings on psychics.

She believes in them.

No questions asked.

She believes in them so strongly that until very recently, she had never been to one.

Lapkus says spent her childhood and early adulthood terrified to visit a psychic, afraid of what she might learn.

Only in the past few months has she started to explore her belief, and she has been recording her experiences as a podcast.

#9 – Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is unquestionably a very influential actor, and he’s also unquestionably a very weird dude.

It’s not actually all that shocking that Cage has encountered a supernatural force.

It’s more surprising that he hasn’t revealed that he is one himself!

While staying in the home of director Francis Ford Coppola, Cage reports that he was approached by a ghost with “big hair”.

The identity of the spirit is unknown, as Coppola himself was not notably coiffed.

Former Transformers star Megan Fox has claimed some pretty transformative experiences.

The actress is often quoted as saying she believes in “everything”, from UFOs to cryptids.

Most recently, Fox had a full-blown ghost encounter while on vacation in Mexico.

One night, she ordered a room service breakfast for 7:30am the next day.

In the morning at 7:00am sharp, she heard the door open and the clatter of plates.

Annoyed at the early delivery, Fox waited until the noise died down before coming out of her room.

When she emerged, there was not a sign of breakfast, and the door was locked.

Spookiest of all, her children’s nanny came along on the trip, and corroborates her tale.

If you ask this writer, Keanu Reeves is a pretty underrated actor.

He’s not always the most convincing in every role, but he sure knows how to pick them.

From amazing hits like The Matrix to ambitious flops like Constantine, it’s clear that Reeves loves sci-fi and tales of the supernatural.

The origin of his tastes were revealed during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

During the segment, Reeves spoke of a childhood memory in which he saw a ghost, quite close to him.

While visiting New York, the young Keanu witnessed a jacket floating through the air and through a doorway.

There were no wires, he swears.

The experience seemed to have sparked a lifelong interest in the inexplicable.

#6 – Lady Gaga

Grammy nominated pop idol Lady Gaga is famous for her wild fashion sense, and she has recently taken a dramatic turn on American Horror Story.

She certainly has a flair for the weird, and it’s hardly a shock that she has encountered spirits.

In particular, the artist speaks of her fear of a particular ghost named Ryan.

Ryan stalked and tormented Gaga for months, leading her to employ psychics, mediums, and ghost hunters.

She says she is finally free of him now after a great deal of struggle.

Maybe Ryan just wanted to tour the world.

McConaughey doesn’t have a problem with her, and he says they coexist just fine.

She was a resident of a house he bought several years ago, and quickly made herself known with unexplained crashes and bangs.

True to form, though, McConaughey didn’t really make a fuss.

He says they’re now friends, and he doesn’t mind at all when she wants to hang out.

Award-winning singer Ke$ha loves to shock her audience, whether it’s with her lyrics or her costumes.

And sometimes, it’s with her paranormal experiences.

The star is on record stating she has had sex with a ghost.

Before hitting it big, Ke$ha lived in a bad part of town in Rural Canyon.

According to her, a dark energy was in residence there before her, and things quickly progressed in an unexpected direction.

“It did scare me, but that’s part of the fun of it.”

#3 – Patrick Stewart

Famous for his roles in Star Trek and the X-Men films, Patrick Stewart is also a legendary figure on the stage.

While performing in Waiting for Godot in 2009, Stewart tells of how he saw a ghost waiting in the wings.

The venue was the Theatre Royal Haymarket, well-known to be haunted.

Coming off stage from his role, Stewart told co-star Ian McKellan that he had just seen a man just off-stage.

He was dressed in an older style, and was so off-putting that the veteran actor flubbed his lines.

Stagehands later told him the story of the theater.

Their belief was that Stewart had encountered John Baldwin Buckstone, who managed the venue in the mid-1800s.

Former star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is no stranger to the paranormal, onscreen or off.

In 2003, Hannigan spoke of living in a haunted house.

She was not at all fazed by the idea.

Hannigan believed the ghost was quite gentlemanly.

He never caused her any harm or distress.

He merely appeared sometimes, floating around the house or making odd noises.

Hannigan actually considered leaving out a chalkboard for the apparition to write his name.

Eventually, she moved on, and the ghost stayed behind.

The story is actually rather notable for its lack of drama.

She lived with a ghost.

No big deal.

Lead singer of the Grammy-winning metal band Slipknot, Corey Taylor is also an accomplished ghost hunter.

Taylor has had many experiences with the paranormal, and has gone out seeking it with his friends on multiple occasions.

In his 2013 book “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven (Or, How I Made Peace with the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process)”, Taylor goes into great detail about the things they found.

Taylor wasn’t afraid to spend his time and resources on the project, and invested in EVP recorders and other tools of the ghost hunting trade.

There’s no question that he believes, and it’s inspiring to see someone at his level of success dive right in and seek answers.

Conclusion

Just like us little people, it seems the rich and famous have occasional but memorable brushes with the paranormal.

The stories they tell range from the terrifying to the banal, and their stardom seems to have little bearing on their experience.
